5 Beauty Products I'm Trying Out | First Impressions

I don't know about you but I'm one of these people that goes through phases with beauty products, especially makeup and skincare. I'll have weeks or months where I'll stick to my skincare routine everyday, enjoying the rewards of doing so which in turn makes me want to do my makeup more. But, I also have times where I barely moisturise everyday, my skin gets worse and makeup doesn't really appeal. Well, recently I've definitely been in a phase of loving everything beauty related and this has meant that I'm really enjoying buying and trying new products, ones that are brand new and some that are just new to me! Today I thought I'd share my first impressions of a few of the products I've been trying over these past few weeks, including 2 exciting launches from LUSH and NYX!

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation | £14 | buy here

This foundation caught my eye when it came out simply because of it's large shade range, I'm pale and ginger so most highstreet foundations are way too dark for me which is why my relationship with foundation hasn't always been a positive one. I would love to wear it more to even out my skin tone, especially for special occasions and days out but I've never been able to get something that matches my skin tone right. I was a little worried that I wouldn't match myself properly when I saw it in-store, £14 is a lot of money to spend on something too light or dark but I surprised myself as I managed to match myself perfectly! The foundation itself is designed to be built up depending on how many drops you use so you can use it as a light coverage foundation or as something with heavier coverage. I thought this was ideal for me as for everyday I only want something light but for evenings out I do prefer something heavier, this cuts out the expensiveness of having several different foundations for different occasions. It doesn't cling to my dry patches and it's been lasting all day, so far I'm absolutely loving it! I'm sure it won't be long until I dedicate a whole blog post to this little bottle of magic.

Sanctuary Spa Wonder Body | £9 | buy here

As I mentioned, I'm pale and ginger so when it comes to getting a tan it just doesn't happen. I burn to a crisp every single time. So, if I want a little bronze glow in my life I have to turn to bottles but the problem is, the idea of fake tanning really doesn't appeal to me. I'm so pale that it would be difficult to find something that looks natural, well I thought it was difficult until Charlotte from Style and Splurging introduced this tinted body moisturiser to me! She described it as a great product for topping up your tan so I thought it would be perfect for me as really I only want to even out my skin tone on my legs, adding a little bronze glow. It's a gel formula and it looks far more pigmented than it appears so don't be worried that you'll end up with orange legs if you pick this up. It took about a week to build the product up to a level that I was happy with so, if you're just looking for a little top up or a slight glow then I think this would be perfect.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Face Powder | £11 | buy here

A couple of weeks back I'd heard whisperings online of a S&G gift with purchase offer but every time I went into the Hull Boots they never had any of the free gifts but finally I hunted one down in the Leeds Trinity Boots. The gift came with this highlighter, an eyeliner and a lipstick but the highlighter has definitely been my favourite out of the three. However, I'd only had it a week when I went and carelessly dropped it. I watched as it fell to the ground and smashed into a million pieces. I could have weeped because it is honestly the most gorgeous highlighter I've ever owned, I'd even put it above theBalm one! It was a subtle luminizing powder that just added the most stunning glow to my cheekbones, safe to say I'll be heading to Boots as soon as possible to buy another one!

LUSH The Birth Of Venus Jelly Face Mask | £6.95 | buy here

If you haven't seen the new LUSH products that have come out recently then where have you been? Amongst the new releases are some fun jelly products and I recently bought one of the new jelly face masks after they really fascinated me! I've used the shower jellies before so I was intrigued as to how the concept would transfer into a face mask. One of the lovely ladies in the Leeds LUSH store recommended this one to me since I have dry and dehydrated skin, it's meant to soothe, balance and refresh your skin. I've used it once so far and it was far easier to use than I expected, for some reason I had visions of having to smush the whole product across my face when in reality all you do is break off a small bit and warm it up in your hands. The jelly ones don't have to go in the fridge and they last a lot longer than the fresh ones so before I'd even tried it they got the thumbs up from me! After one use though I am impressed but I'll definitely wait until I've finished off the tub to give you my full thoughts.

LUSH Scrubee | £6.95 | buy here

Due to my disability I'm not able to take baths as I can't get in and out so when it comes to LUSH I often feel like I miss out on a lot of the good stuff since they are so well known for their bath bombs. So, when the bigger LUSH Hull store opened recently I popped in and chatted to one of the staff about some of the shower products that I could try out and they recommended this cute little bee to me. I tried it out in the in-store sink and it felt incredible so soon enough one was popped in a bag and off I went with my purchase. On one side of the product is a rough exfoliating surface and on the other side is a moisturising surface, designed to be used one after another. I tried it out the other day for the first time and I have to say, I already love it. The exfoliating side isn't too harsh but it's rough enough to make sure that you aren't left with odd patches and the moisturising side feels very thick and luxurious. It also means that you don't have to mess around with moisturisers after you've dried off. I'm definitely a big LUSH fan right now!

What new products are you trying out at the moment?
