During this past year things like highlighting, strobing and contouring have definitely been made more popular (mostly by famous faces like The Kardashians) and slowly highstreet brands like MUA have jumped on board and brought out products like these. This is part of their Luxe range which as the name suggests is a little more luxurious than the normal products but they are still extremely affordable and a complete bargain. This compact kit contains a mirror, a powder highlighter and a cream highlighter, pretty good value for money if you ask me. When it comes to highlighting I've mainly stuck with pretty standard powder highlighters so I was interested to see how perhaps using a cream and powder highlighter together would work.
At first there was only one shade, Pearl Glow, but more recently they have brought out a second shade, Pink Luster, that as the name would suggest does lean more on the pink side. Both products have the same set up and formula though so it made sense to review them at the same time! Throughout all the photos Pearl Glow is on the left and Pink Luster is on the right, including the swatches.
The powder's are very similar in texture and feel but Pearl Glow is almost matte whereas Pink Luster, as you can probably see, does have a lot more shimmer in it. I found that I could almost use the powder in Pearl Glow as a setting powder rather than a highlighter, it did work very nicely to keep my makeup in place whilst giving it a bit of a lift rather than a full highlighter. Pink Luster on the other hand does make a very nice highlighter on it's own, it's quite similar when swatched to the other shade apart from the difference in finish and it's the finish that really does make it perform well.
When it comes to the cream products in this little kit the tables are turned though, Pearl Glow has much more of a shimmer to it than Pink Luster. One thing that they do have in common though is how pigmented they are, I thought this might make them difficult to use but the formula is super creamy and light. Pearl Glow is definitely the one you'd want for a more bold highlight whereas Pink Luster is great for something a little more subtle. Either way though, whatever you prefer, I really have been impressed by this little product. Both products last well throughout the day and at only £5 I really can't complain. In my eyes MUA have done it again, created a bargain product that performs just as well as some of the more expensive alternatives.
You can find both of these on the MUA website for £5 each.
These look gorgeous!

They are so lovely! xx
DeleteI decided to stop buying MUA products a few years ago (not that I'd bought many) due to the way the company conducted themselves on social media but these do look gorgeous and I'd be very tempted to try one x
