Benefit Cosmetics Frisky Six Gift Set | Review

At the start of the month I went on a very short trip to Amsterdam on an overnight ferry and decided to take advantage of some of the shops that were on-board. Of course the one section that really caught my eye were the beauty products and Benefit Cosmetics in particular. I've tried a few things from them over the past few years but I've always wanted to test out a few more things so picked up one of the gift sets so I could do just that! Unfortunately it seems that they don't sell this particular set anymore and it is being replaced by the 'sizzlin' six' gift set which is the same price and features different products. I thought it's still worth telling you what I think though as all the products in the set are available to buy individually!

They're Real Mascara
I have to say this mascara really does live up to the hype, I remember when everyone went crazy for it originally and I just wasn't sold due to the price tag but now I've tried it I think I've changed my mind. Firstly the rumours are true that it doesn't budge at all throughout the day, I've never worn such a long wearing mascara and that really impressed me. It does everything I want it to in terms of lengthening, volumising and separating and really I don't have a bad word to say about it. I'll definitely be purchasing this in full size!

Sun Beam Highlighter
This is one of the products that I really hadn't heard much about prior to buying the gift set so I was a little unsure as to what to expect or whether it was even my cup of tea. It looks a bit intimidating when you first apply it as it does have a very strong bronze colour to it but it quickly blends out to create a very sunkissed look. I can't say I'll be buying this in full size but it will be nice for in the Summer!

Lollibalm
Whilst this next product is lovely and does exactly what you expect I can't say I was blown away by it at all, I remember when these balms first came out everyone was split. I like a tinted lip balm as much as the next person but for me there really was next to no colour pay off with this, it felt soft on my lips but that didn't last long either. It's the kind of product I'll keep at the bottom of my handbag for makeup emergencies!

Lollitint
The tint version of the previous product did impress me a lot more luckily, I've always been a fan of their tints since magazines would give out little mini sizes every now and then! I really thought I'd use this more as a lip product but I've surprised myself by really enjoying how it looks as a blush. It suits my pale complexion perfectly and gives me a flushed look with a pop of colour, I'll definitely be reaching for it a lot during Spring.

Sugarbomb Box Blush
This is the first powder blush I'd ever tried from Benefit so I was interested to see whether it would be as good as everyone says they were! I wasn't disappointed but I also wasn't thrilled by it, for me it is an okay product. I don't think it particularly suited me very well which doesn't help and due to the mixture of more blush and bronze shades I did struggle to find the best place to apply it but I think if you are slightly better at those kinds of things you might enjoy this. I'm not tainting them all with the same brush though, I'm definitely going to look into trying a different shade in the future!

Ooh La Lift Under Eye Brightener
Finally let's end on a good note, this is the one product that really surprised me the most. I didn't even know I needed an eye brightener in my life until I tried this but it has made such a difference. It brightens everything up and it even works well if you mix a little of it in with your concealer to get a more radiant look, I'll definitely miss having it in my makeup collection once it runs out!

  3. This looks like such a fab little set. It's got so many products that I probably wouldn't normally pick up in full size but it's lovely to have them in miniatures. I may have to look into getting this set for myself.

I agree about the They're Real - it's an amazing mascara and great for if you've got a long day ahead of you (it's a shame my mum has stolen mine).
