A couple of weeks back me and my boyfriend went on a very short trip away to somewhere I've wanted to go to for a while, Amsterdam. Everyone seems to be heading over there at the moment and now I can totally understand why! We were only there for a day but managed to see so much and think we both definitely want to head back there for longer in the future, there is still loads more to see. Since we didn't have much time this definitely isn't a 'things to do in Amsterdam' kind of post, instead it's mostly just photos but I hope you still enjoy scrolling through them! I'll talk a little about what we did manage to get up to at the end of the post.
The reason why we were only in Amsterdam for a day was because we got the overnight ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, coach journey to Amsterdam and back on the ferry that evening to travel back again overnight! I really enjoyed not only the time we spent in Amsterdam but also the experience of staying on a ferry overnight, it was a little strange feeling the boat sway as you fell asleep! I really enjoyed it though and would definitely do it again and would recommend it if you are looking for a cheap and short trip away. When we got to Amsterdam we had a wander around and a drink whilst we waited for the weather to brighten up a bit and then we went on one of the canal boat tours. It only cost about 8 euros each and it was an hour round trip, we got to see so much in that hour and if you're heading over there I'd definitely recommend doing one of the boat tours. I think if the weather had been better we definitely would have seen more but we enjoyed wandering around and just taking in the surroundings! If we went again I'd definitely plan ahead more and do some of the museums and more tourist-y things.
I really do understand now why everyone has been heading over there and I think if you get the chance to go you definitely should!
