What's in my travel makeup bag?

On Saturday I'll be heading up north to Yorkshire to stay with my grandparents in their house that they have up there for 8 days, I can't even explain how much I'm looking forward to having a break! It isn't going to be a proper holiday as I still will be spending most of my time inside but the change of scenary is enough for me and we do have a few trips planned that I think I should be able to manage. I know that the 3 hour journey there will be uncomfortable and painful but it will definitely be worth it. The house is in a tiny town that is beautiful and I spent a lot of time there when I was younger so I can't wait to return to it, I might do a post on what I get up to! I wasn't sure whether to do a post on what makeup I'm bringing as it is generally all my usual favourites but I thought I might as well.

I've been using the same makeup for a few years now, I got it from Primark and it hasn't broken on me yet so I probably will keep using it until it does! I would of course love to treat myself to a gorgeous Ted Baker one though, maybe I'll treat myself after Christmas.

When it comes to the eye makeup I'm taking I am definitely sticking to my usual favourites that I know will stay all throughout the day. It wasn't hard when it came to picking an eyeshadow palette to take, I can always rely on my Urban Decay Naked2 Palette as all the shades are super pigmented and they are the most long lasting eyeshadows that I own. For the days when I don't fancy wearing much makeup though I'm bringing along my Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe which stays all day without a primer and don't need a brush to apply it which makes things even simpler!

The primer I'm taking is the bareMinerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer* which does the job perfectly when it comes to keeping eyeshadow on. I'm of course taking my usual mascara and eyeliner duo, the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara* and the Eye of Horus Goddess Eye Pencil* which both help to give my eyes a little more definition. All these products are ones that I use all the time but I do have a new addition to my routine, I've been using the Rimmel Brow This Way Gel recently and I've been liking it a lot so that's coming with me, I'll be reviewing it when I get back!

I seem to be taking a lot of base products, I've been really enjoying using a lot of different face products recently so I found it difficult to cut down what I wanted to take! I couldn't decide between my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and my GOSH CC Cream* so I thought there was no harm in taking both, they both offer different finishes and different levels of coverage so I feel I can justify it. It wasn't difficult picking a concealer to take though, my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is my favourite and I know it will cover anything during the week. It was the same when it came to my powder and primer as well, I know I can always rely on the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and the Benefit POREfessional Primer to keep my foundation looking great all day long.

I haven't been using highlighter too much recently but I popped in my MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter anyway as I thought I might regret not bringing it along as it is a favourite of mine that I usually use a lot. One product that I have been using a lot though is the NYC Blushable Cream Stick in Soho Pink, I've been raving about this a lot and it has been my go to blush so I threw this into my makeup straight away! I'm also bringing along an old favourite, the NYX Powder Blush in Peach. I always go back to this and it makes my face look a lot brighter, with the weather being so dull at the moment I think I'll need all the help I can get when it comes to brightening up my face.

I'm quite impressed that I've managed to only pick 3 lip products to bring with me, I think I found it easier though because the only lipstick I'm really using at the moment is my all time favourite, MACs Syrup. I don't need to tell you all how much I love it! Lipgloss isn't a product I reach for on a daily basis but I do love using the L'Oreal Shine Stain Splash in Lolita in the Autumn and it is more long lasting than my other glosses, I thought it would be nice to have a different option. Finally I saw this Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipstick in Barely Blush sitting at the bottom of a makeup bag and I remembered how much I used to love it so I'm bringing it along in the hope that I'll fall back in love with it again as it is a beautiful lipstick.

I'm also bringing along some new products from Makeup Revolution that arrived after I wrote this post so I'll be reviewing them when I get back after I've tried them out over the next 10 days!

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

  1. I'm impressed by how much you have whittled it down to, I really struggle with not overpacking makeup when it comes to going on trips! What make is your eyelash curler? I've been looking for a new one x
