Guest Post | MAC Lipstick in Up The Amp Review

Hi Everyone! I'm Sarah and I normally blog over at my blog, which is called Loved by Sarah. Today, I'm here on Shona's blog with a MAC Lipstick review. I'm a HUGE fan of MAC Lipsticks (my extensive collection is proof of this) so I wanted to share with you one of the most recent additions to the collection - Up the Amp.

Up the Amp was given to me by my friend Kayla a few weeks ago - she'd bought it but never wore it, so had the (very good, may I add) idea of passing it on to me - I guess she knew it wouldn't go to waste that way! A bright lavender-violet, Up the Amp is a striking purple - yes, a purple rather than a plum. It's definitely one of the most vibrant lipsticks in my own personal collection - but it does have an Amplified finish, so that kind of explains why. I have 3 lipsticks from the Amplified range - Up the Amp, Toying Around and Vegas Volt; I just love how bright and vibrant they are, perfect for a statement lip.

As I said, up the amp is a striking purple - so, so bright. A lot of purple lipsticks are more of a plum colour, with slight red tones, but no - this is full-on purple. It's not ghastly pale lilac, but it's paler than plum. I think it's actually got a slight pink tone in it as well. It is definitely not an everyday colour - it's very "out-there" and daring - a colour that got me a couple of funny looks on the tube when I wore it out! Don't let the funny looks deter you though - this is a beautiful colour, and I think it can show individuality when you're wearing it. It was quite scary when I got it - although   I am a bright lipstick girl, I did have the moment of "when am I going to wear a colour this bright and unusual?!" Of course, I've worn it a number of times since I got it and will continue to wear it as part of my A/W Wardrobe - It's all about the reds and purples in Autumn for me.

I think Up the Amp is quite long wearing, it lasts a good few hours on me; I wore it to BLFW a couple of weeks ago and I only had to reapply it once - even then it was just a top-up! It's actually an Amplified Creme finish, so it's a lot creamier so it does feel nice on the lips - quite similar to  the cremesheen finish, but a little less sticky - as much as I love the Cremesheen finish, I do find it slightly sticky sometimes, whereas this is a dream to apply. You don't need much of it either, so this lipstick will last ages.

Up The Amp is available instore and online for £15.50 (Since when did they get so expensive?!).

Hope you've enjoyed reading about the latest addition to my MAC Lipstick collection! If you'd like to read more of my posts, you can do so by visiting my blog which is www.lovedbysarah.co.uk. Also, thank you to Shona for letting me post on her blog - a blog which is a personal favourite of mine.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely week!
