Makeup Revolution Anti Bacterial Skincare | Review

Makeup Revolution have been on the ball recently with new product releases, with their skincare products being some of the newest around. Last week I introduced the Makeup Fixing Spray* to you, this week it's all about the face wash and serum/primer duo!

At £10 each these products do sit at the higher end of the brand's products, Makeup Revolution are well known now for their low prices so was a bit surprised to see the price of these. I would have liked to have seen price a bit lower, perhaps £7 or £8 but you can't complain too much as the rest of their products are so cheap!

First up is the face wash which claims to help prevent spots, blemishes and breakouts by fighting the bacteria that causes them. It has a dual formula, when you dispense the product using the pump 2 products come out from different sides. Both are foaming products which unfortunately didn't do my skin any favours. I have dry skin and this just stripped it of any moisture, I don't think I was able to use it for long enough to even know if it was helping to stop breakouts. I think this face wash would be a lot more suited to someone with oily skin, the concept is good but this just isn't suited to my skin.

I have a completely different story to tell when it comes to the 2 in 1 Serum and Primer. I'm a big lover of both kinds of products so I was interested to see how they would work combined. This aims to soothe, protect and prime the skin ready for makeup. It is also enriched with Vitamins A, B, B5 and E to help prevent breakouts and protect your skin all day long. I wouldn't say this had any major effect when it came to helping spots and breakouts but it certainly is a lovely primer and moisturiser. It's a thick cream so you really don't need much, despite this it sinks into the skin so quickly and creates a great base for foundation. I've been using this in place of my morning moisturiser and I have definitely noticed that my skin is feeling softer and my foundation has been looking a lot better. I think the £10 price tag for this is very justified and I will definitely be buying a new one when it runs out!

I really would recommend the Primer/Serum, it not only prepares your skin for foundation but it moisturises it as well!

Have you tried any of Makeup Revolutions Skincare products yet? If not, are you going to?

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

  1. Thanks for the review Shona! I'm curious about the primer/serum. Is it oil-free by any chance? I'm wondering if this creates a sort of dewy finish on your skin. :)

    1. Really sorry but I don't know, I wouldn't say it has an overly dewy finish, just the same kind of feel and look of a moisturiser :) x

    3. Same :) I've found that they sell it in a shop near me as well so will be spending even more money on them now!

  2. I have both of these! I really liked the face wash but I have quite oily skin so I guess that's why. I used the primer a few times and I didn't dislike it, I just preferred my own primer!

    1. I'm glad the face wash worked for you! I still use my Benefit POREfessional sometimes as this one doesn't minimise pores :) x

  3. I don't think I'd ever pay £10 from a 'budget' brand! I'd much rather go to boots and get something from the likes of Soap & Glory or Una Brennan. Actually quite shocked about the prices!

    1. That's true, I definitely think the prices are too high for a budget brand when it comes to these products x
