Revisiting old favourites

Recently I've been making more of an effort to reach for some of my beauty products that have been neglected for a little while. I like to go through my makeup often to see if any products need throwing away and to try and vary what products I'm using. I thought I'd show you what I've been using recently, these are all products that haven't got much love during the past few months. I think everyone should go through their makeup collection every now and then to vary what they use, it's too easy to stick to your favourites.

MUA Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette | £4 | buy here

I think this was probably the first eyeshadow palette I ever owned, I remember when I bought it when I first started blogging. If you followed me back then, nearly 3 years ago now, you'll know how much I loved this! I raved about it all the time until the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette came into my life. This was pushed to the side but recently I've gotten it back out and I've rekindled my love for it. It's pretty obvious which shade is my favourite one and through the past few years that shade has always been my favourite, even now. This really is a must have palette for anyone new to makeup or someone on a budget.

Natural Collection Blushes in Peach Melba and Pink Cloud | £1.99 | buy here

When I first started making youtube videos in November 2011 Natural Collection was everyone's favourite budget brand. Everyone raved about the blushes and the lipsticks, I remember going to 3 different Boots shops just to find the lipstick in Apple Blossom (which looked horrible on me!). Even now I really like the blushes, they aren't the most pigmented in the world and they don't stay on all day but there is just something about them that I love. I really like using the shade Peach Melba in the Summer, it warms up my face a bit but doesn't over power it as it isn't really pigmented. I'm not sure I would recommend these over a brand like Sleek or MUA that are also quite cheap but for me they will always be a favourite of mine.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey | £7.99 | full review | buy here

If you are a regular reader of my blog then you'll know just how much I love balm stains and lip crayons. This is the product that started off my love for them, I've bought so many because of this Revlon Balm Stain. It's a pretty basic muted nude pink shade but it's the formula that I fell in love with. I love lipsticks but I often find they are a little bit too bold for my liking whilst lip glosses annoy me a lot of the time. This is the perfect in-between product, it's moisturising and gives your lips a good amount of colour. It isn't as pigmented as a lipstick but it's more pigmented than a gloss, to me these kinds of products are perfect. If you haven't tried the Revlon ones yet I'd definitely recommend you do, there is a colour and finish for everyone now!

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine | £8 | buy here

I'm a big lip balm fan, especially when its come to tinted lip balms so this product had been on my wishlist for a while before I finally treated myself to it. I'd heard so much about the Korres Lip Butter's, mainly all good and I am very happy that I bought it. Jasmine is a very similar colour to the above Revlon Balm Stain but it is a lot creamier and more moisturising. It doesn't last long and it only gives off a milky wash of colour but it feels like butter on your lips. It's so soft and moisturising, I definitely want to look into getting more of these.

Smashbox Soft Lights Highlighter in Prism | £23 | full review | buy here

This is definitely one of the most beautiful products I own, the packaging may be basic but it's the product inside that I love. I've been using this for a few weeks now and I'm really not sure why I ever stopped using it. It's a pink toned highlighter that is really flattering on my pale skin, the shimmer in it is really subtly yet noticeable. I think I spend so much time loving my MUA highlighter that I forget about this. The pink in this product means you can get away without using blusher, something which the MUA highlighter doesn't offer. Of course there is a big price difference but this really is a beautiful highlighter that I'll definitely be using a lot more this Summer.

Why don't you go through your makeup and use a few products that have been neglected? You might find some new favourites!

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

    1. I think I might have to have a look at them next time I'm in Boots! The tinted moisturiser was the first makeup item I ever owned, I remember my Mum buying it for me :) xx

  3. Thanks for sharing. I think the UK has very different products than the US, so it's always nice to read up on what girls from other places like. I think the Smashbox blush has such a pretty tone. I might consider it too.
