My Morning and Night Skincare Routine

I don't talk about skincare much on my blog, I never have and I don't think I will ever be a blogger who covers skincare a lot. I'm quite lazy when it comes to my skin but at the start of the year I started to get into a proper skincare routine. I'm not going to lie, I don't stick to this religiously, in fact I probably only stick to this for about 3/4 of the week. I do use some products every day but I just can't seem to stick to a routine every day. I still have my little bundle of products though that I do like to use often to help my skin stay moisturised, clean and spot free.

The first product is something I use everyday, it's the Elemis Freshskin Peachy Perfect Face Wash*. I really love this face wash, it feels soft on my skin and doesn't strip it of any moisture as well. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed so I always reach for it in the morning. Next up is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant* which I've been using about 3 times a week. When it comes to exfoliators I have a few that I tend to go to and this is the one I'm using at the moment. I've got a St Ives one and a Garnier one that I use a lot as well. I'm liking this one at the moment though as it is gentle on my skin but it exfoliates well also, it's great for the warmer weather I think when my skin isn't as dry.

Moisturiser is another product I reach for everyday, my skin is dry and it's not very nice without the help of a good moisturiser. I'm using the Elemis Freshskin Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser* at the moment but I can't say it's my favourite. Once I've finished this I'm going to repurchase my long time favourite, the Johnson's Daily Essentials 24hr Day Cream which is only about £4. The Elemis one is nice but it doesn't wow me enough to justify the price tag. Finally a few times a week, when my under eye area is feeling a little dull I use my little sample of Benefit's Eye Con which moisturises underneath my eyes and generally just makes my skin feel happy!

In the evening I first use my L'Oreal Skin Perfect Micellar Solution to remove my makeup, if I am wearing any. I only use this on my eyes now as I find it dries out my skin a lot. I've heard the Garnier one is a lot better so once I've finished this bottle I'll definitely be trying that. Then like in the morning I wash my face with the Elemis Freshskin Face Wash* to clean my face and remove any makeup that's left on my face. Instead of using a night time moisturiser I use the Elemis Freshskin Super Boost Moisturising Serum* which I really cannot say enough good things about. This is the first product that has truly made my skin feel super super nice. It solves all my problems like dry and flaky skin! I would really recommend this to everyone, it's helped my skin so much.

These 4 products are ones that don't really fit in anywhere in particular but they are definitely part of my routine sometimes. I use these every now and then rather than in the morning or night or in a particular order etc. First up is the Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz, I never have understood toners but I do know that this makes my skin feel refreshed throughout the day. I tend to only use this on hotter days as it makes me feel really cool and refreshed, like I said. I tend to use a face mask about once a week if I remember and one of my favourites that I thought I would share with you is the Apivita Face Mask with Sea Lavender. This is hydrating and cooling, it leaves my skin feeling really soft and I love using it before I go to bed.

Next up is the Benefit Boo Boo Zap! which I use on my spots to try and get rid of them quicker. When I first started using this I loved it, it really helped my spots but I think the more I've used it the more it has started not to work. I've started only using this when I have quite bad spots which is working better, my spots definitely disappear quicker when I do use this. I would really love to try the similar Origins product though! Finally this Premae Harmony Smoothie Serum* is another product I reach for when my skin is bad. I find this doesn't give my skin quite enough moisture sometimes so I reserve it for when my skin is quite spotty as it does such a good job of clearing up my skin. My skin always looks better once I've used this, I do wish it was a bit more moisturising though! Also I completely forgot to photograph it but I use my Konjac Sponge* with my face wash to clean my face in the morning and at night, I much prefer using it compared to a flannel or muslin cloth.

So, that's my skincare routine! I don't think it's too exciting but people on twitter said yes to seeing it so hopefully you have found it interesting.

What is your favourite skincare product?

  3. You're still such a young age I wouldn't worry too much about sticking religiously to a routine full of loads of products. Some people may need to start up a good routine quite young but not everybody does. I didn't start using any skincare at all until a couple of years ago and I'm just approaching 32 now. I don't think my skin has suffered at all though as I pass for younger than my age :)

    1. That's what I was thinking, I don't have any major skin issues so don't need to put on product after product :) xx
