VO5 Smoothly Does It Range | Review

I've always struggled when it comes to styling my hair, all my life I've had thick frizzy hair that can be wavy or curly. When I started secondary school I found hair straighteners and thought they'd be the answer to all my prayers but I was so so wrong and I ended up cutting my hair to shoulder length about 3 times during my years at secondary school because I had no idea what to do with my hair. Still at 16 I haven't quite perfected the art of styling my hair but with the help of some products and hair tools it is getting easier. I am always hunting for new hair products to try as well and I've lost count of how many frizz fighting products I've been disappointed by, finally though I think I've found 2 that actually work.

For about a month I've been trying out 2 products from the VO5 Smoothly Does It Range which is designed for people who like to wear their hair straight, people like me. Although I have recently loved having my hair curly I do still use my straighteners more. For the first time in ages I was convinced to buy these by an advert that I've seen SO many times, one of my favourite soaps Hollyoaks are sponsored by VO5 so seeing these products advertised nearly everyday made me buy it, clever advertising VO5, very clever.

The two products that I've been trying from the range of 8 are the Straightening Lotion and the Tame and Shine Spray, I've been using them nearly every time I have washed my hair for a month now, this is how I go on with them.

VO5 Smoothly Does It Straightening Lotion | £5.99 | buy here
This product is designed to help smooth out unruly hair and keep frizz at bay with it's Kerafix Technology which activates using the heat from your straighteners. I've been using this both when I plan on straightening my hair and when I don't to see if it works without the heat needed to activate the kerafix. I run about 2-3 pumps of this through the middle to the ends of my hair, avoiding placing the product directly onto my roots. I find when I straighten my hair after using this it doesn't take as long and I get a smoother and sleeker effect. Also my hair seems to stay straighter for longer, it will usually stay looking shiny and sleek until I next wash my hair as well. This does claim to last 3 washes but I don't think it does, although I only wash my hair about every 3-4 days so maybe it would if you wash your hair everyday or every other day as the product would still be in your hair. Overall this product has helped me so much and I've finally been able to achieve sleek, smooth and straight hair, I would definitely recommend it.

VO5 Smoothly Does It Tame and Shine Spray | £3.89 | buy here
This product is designed for use before and after styling your hair, it does what it says on the tin, it gives your hair shine and tames it. I've been using this before and after I straighten my hair but also I use it when I curl my hair as it does give a nice finish and keep any frizz at bay. This is a good product to keep in your handbag as well, especially if want to take your look from day to night with no fuss. This makes my hair look healthy and shiny whilst making it easier to style and taming it in general. I love this product equally as much as the first and I'd recommend purchasing them both together.

If you struggle with frizzy and unruly hair I'd really recommend this range of budget products to you, or even if you straighten your hair a lot as they give a red carpet ready finish to your hair and both products contain heat defence! Also as I write and publish this post Boots have 3 for 2 on their haircare so this would be the perfect opportunity to try a few products from the range!

Thanks for reading,
