Creme Egg Brownies

For a while now I've wanted to make Creme Egg Brownies, for a chocoholic like myself they are the perfect little treat. Creme Eggs only come round for a few months every year though and until now I just hadn't gotten around to making these tasty brownies. I thought I'd share this recipe with you all today before Easter has been and gone and the opportunity passes again, anyone and everyone who likes chocolate will love them!

This is the first time I've made them so they aren't perfect but they do taste amazing! They are a very rich treat so you only need a small portion to satisfy your chocolate needs. Also I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a fairly cheap recipe to make, as long as you already have all the baking basics like flour, eggs, sugar etc. I only had to buy some Creme Eggs and dark chocolate which came to just under £3. I know lots of people have already posted the recipe for this all over the internet but I had to share this indulgent treat with you all.

You will need...
A bag of mini Creme Eggs or 6 full sized Creme Eggs
3 Eggs
40g Cocoa Powder
85g Plain Flour
275g Caster Sugar
185g Unsalted Butter
185g Dark Chocolate

Step 1...
Preheat your oven to Gas Mark 4/180 degrees.

Step 2...
Melt your butter and dark chocolate together, I did this in the microwave in 30 second bursts but you can melt them together in a bowl over a saucepan of hot water.

Step 3...
In a different bowl crack in your eggs and add the sugar, whisk them together until the mixture becomes mousse like and pale, I used an electric whisk, I imagine it would take a little while doing it by hand. Then mix in the melted butter and chocolate

Step 4...
Sift in the Cocoa Powder (I actually used hot chocolate as I didn't have any!) and Flour and fold it into the mixture before pouring it into a baking tray. Bake for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 5...
Cut your Creme Eggs in half, I used the mini ones but most people tend to use the full sized ones. Gently place them onto the brownies after the first bake in the oven and then pop them back in for another 10 minutes to melt the Creme Eggs into the brownies.

Step 6...
After 10 minutes remove them from the oven and let them completely cool before cutting into slices. I made the mistake of not letting them completely cool down so they ended up breaking a bit so do make sure they are cool before cutting and serving!
