Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm // Review

A little while ago I was out shopping and I realised I had forgotten my lip balm which is a nightmare for me. I get really dry lips and having dry lips annoys me a lot so I knew I would have to buy one whilst I was out. I found this Palmers one in Superdrug on offer, it was under £2. I remembered a girl in my Psychology class at Sixth Form using it so thought I'd give it a try, she used it so much I thought it must be good!

Firstl of all this lip balm isn't the typical shape of a lip balm, this is one element that drew me in. It is a thin oval shape that I actually really like as you can moisturise the inner corners of your lips without getting lots of lip balm over your skin. There is one thing about the packaging of this balm that I don't like though. Because of the oval shape the twist up system isn't the same and it isn't as easy as round lip balms to twist up, although this isn't a major negative element.

I do find that this lip balm moisturises my lips well, I think that is the Cocoa Butter Formula but at the same time the lip balm isn't very smooth which is quite off putting. I really like lip balms that make my lips feel smooth so like I said this does put me off it a little. It does smell quite nice though so that is another positive!

I don't think I'll be throwing this out but it won't be my first choice when it comes to applying lip balm. I'll probably put it in the bottom of my bag so I don't have to buy any more when I forget my lip balm again!

Have you tried this lip balm? Did you know that Palmers did a lip balm?

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

    1. The shape is certainly different, I suppose that is a good unique selling point though! X

  3. Great review! I have an addiction to lip balms and might try this as I like the idea of an oval shaped balm!

  4. I LOVE this lip balm, it's all I've used for years. I did get a dodgy one a while back that had a weird gritty texture but normally it goes on very smooth

  5. I always have to have a lip balm with me when I'm out and about too. As soon as my lips start to feel dry I start to keep picking at them and licking them, which is the worst thing to do, especially in winter. I have several different types of lip balm but I haven't tried this one. I'm not always a fan of stick balms and usually prefer pot ones x
