October Favourites // Beauty and Music

This month I haven't got many makeup favourites at all so thought I'd again include some of my more life favourites such as music and apps! Hope you don't mind me putting my life and beauty favourites together, sorry if you only come here for the beauty posts!

My first beauty favourite for this month is the bareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara*. I haven't been wearing much makeup this month but one product I never skip is mascara, it makes such a difference! This is definitely my new favourite mascara and possibly a holy grail product. I love the spiralled wand that catches every lash and coats them all equally with ease. It gives my lashes lots of volume and length and possibly the most important part is that it doesn't budge! It isn't the easiest mascara to remove but for me that is a small sacrifice, I can't stand mascaras that flake and smudge within a few hours. This is just an all round great product that I would definitely recommend!

My next favourite is a product that I used to adore but for some reason I just stopped using it for a while. I've picked the Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine back up though and I'm so glad! This gives a faint milky pink tint to my lips whilst making them feel incredibly soft. In the long run it doesn't hydrate your lips but it definitely moisturises them and stops them feeling dry.

My lips aren't the only things being affected by the cold and windy weather, my hands have also gotten really dry! When my S&G Hand Food ran out I was set on repurchasing it but I started using this Crabtree & Evelyn Summer Hill Hand Therapy and there was no longer a need to repurchase it! I've been loving using this for a while but I've been picking it up more recently and it has just strengthened my love for it. It makes my hands feel so soft and you only need the tiniest bit! You get a lot of product, 100ml, as well so this is going to last me ages which makes the price tag very justifiable.

My last beauty themed product is this Body Shop Cranberry Joy Body, Room and Linen Spritz. This is from last year, luckily they still have it on the website and it is on sale! I love using this scent in A/W, it is such a fresh cranberry scent rather than a strong overpowering one.

Onto some music and an app!

This month I discovered the app Bloom.fm which is an app with up to date music on which you can borrow music from and play whenever you want, even if you don't have wifi/3G. I've always been reluctant to buy music from iTunes, I think it is quite expensive and the cost can rack up quickly! This app is free to get and if you just keep it as free then you can't borrow songs but you can still listen to them if you have an internet connection. When I got the app I got a free trial for 1 month of their Bloom 20 pack which is where you can borrow 20 songs. The good thing about Bloom.fm is that when you get bored of a song (which happens eventually usually!) you can just return the song and switch it for a different one! There are different packs which allow you to borrow different amounts of songs, when my trial runs out I'll be getting the Bloom 20 pack which is £1 a month, a bargain compared to how much each individual song is on iTunes!

For a song favourite I've been loving James Blunt Bonfire Heart! I've never been a massive fan of James Blunt but this song is a little more upbeat and so catchy, I'd definitely recommend you go and listen to it!

That's all my favourites for this month, only 2 more months in 2013 to go, scary!

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

  1. I love The Body Shop's Cranberry Joy Spritz too! I'm running low on my current bottle, so have just bought another for £2.10 thanks to the sale and a 40% off code. I really want to try a Korres lip butter!

    1. I think I'm going to buy another so I've enough to last me through next year as well :) xx

  2. Ohh I love the look of the mascara and the wand especially- I've never tried anything from Bare Minerals before :) xx

    1. I'd really recommend going to a bareMinerals store or counter and swatching some products, such a lovely all round brand! x
