Embrace your Inner Nerd // 6 Nerdy Facts about Me!

Throughout Secondary School the words geek/nerd/swat are just some of the words that are thrown at you if you show any more than 'normal' interest in your lessons or are particularly good at one subject! So when these GEEK and NERD tops came out and the girls that once directed these words towards me I was a little confused! Is it now cool to be a nerd? Either way I think everyone has a little nerd inside of them!

I saw this tag on Joelle's blog FebruaryGirl and I loved the idea of it so today I'm going to share with you some nerdy facts about me!

1. I love school!
I'm really not kidding, I've always loved learning! This really is the big nerd stereotype but it does apply to me. When I was younger you could find me in the library at break and lunch tucked away in the corner reading books about anything and everything, it seemed that I was always hungry for new information! I can remember always loving school, of course there are elements that I'm not so keen on but the learning side of it really appeals to me!

2. I'm a big maths geek!
Expanding on my first point, I'm a big maths nerd! At GCSE Maths was my favourite subject, I've always enjoyed it, me and numbers get on so well! Maths is something that people seem to either hate or love! I always used to get called a nerd or geek for liking maths but who cares because I loved it!

3. I played Violin for a year!
Oh yes, I played and loved playing Violin for a year! I stopped because I didn't have the time and I wasn't actually very good, either way though I loved it!

4. I love watching Quiz Shows!
I'm a big fan of sitting down in the evening and watching any quiz style shows, anything from Pointless to The Chase, I even watch University Challenge now and then! I love learning general knowledge and surprising people with random facts every now and then! This is something that me and my brother both do, we could spend ages starting sentences with 'Did you know that...?' Haha!

5. Documentaries are my thing!
I spend A LOT of my time watching documentaries on anything from global warming to mental health! I just love taking in new information and learning like I said before. I have a soft spot for any medical related documentaries and programmes as well! Not sure if this is a real Geeky fact but I thought I'd add it in anyway!

6. Oh how I love to make lists!
I absolutely adore making lists, I'll make them for anything and everything! I've already got several on the go for Christmas, I have loads for blogging and my school one is too long to even try and comprehend! There is nothing better than sitting down and ticking things off your list, so satisfactory!

I think that's it for today! I can't think of anything else major really! I wouldn't say I'm massive geek, I don't collect anything or do anything similar, I just love learning! I think that sums up the nerdy side of me pretty well, I love learning!

  3. Aw loved this! I totally love being a nerd... I actually couldn't imagine how boring life must be NOT being a nerd? Getting drunk every night and not remembering? No thanks! I'd rather sit and watch a doco and learn something new about lions or whatever ;)

  5. To me, I think geekiness means being passionate about something which is a wonderful thing :)
I wouldn't wear those tops with 'geek' or 'nerd' emblazoned on them though, but I wouldn't judge anyone else for wearing them.
Always be proud of being good at maths, people actually really admire those that find maths etc easy, and you'll be the one who can put it to good use for a job!
And I LOVE documentaries and learning new things! Why wouldn't you want to plonk yourself down in front of the TV or a good book and just learn something new? I kept on French to A Level because I just didn't want to stop learning it!
    Great post Shona :D

    1. Of course I'm not judging anyone for wearing them, just a little confused as the girls who used to call me a nerd/geek are the ones at my school wearing them?
People are always saying to me now that I'm lucky that I'm good at maths so I guess that's true :)
Who doesn't love learning new things? WOW! I loved french but no way would I do it at A Level haha! Good luck :)
      Thanks xx

    2. Don't worry I don't think you judge anyone:)
It's just at my school people are judged for buying and wearing them:(
      And yes, that is confusing!

    3. Yeah, regardless of all of that I don't particularly like the tops anyway haha- not my cup of tea! xx

    1. Aww :( I didn't do maths for A Level as I feared I'd end up hating it! And it seemed like a lot of work! xx

  7. I'm with you on the school and maths ones! I love maths, I got up to A Level (pure and statistics) and I'm considering possibly doing a maths degree in the future. Learning in general, apart from a 3 year gap after my undergrad, I've spent the last 13 years at university and am just about to hand in my last thesis in under 4 weeks time! xx

    1. 13 years at university! WOW! I think you might love learning a bit more than me haha, that is amazing though :) My old geography teacher at school has something like 13 A Levels, 2 degrees and endless GCSEs, he does some kind of qualification every year, I often wonder if he is a bit over qualified to be a teacher haha :) xx
