Benefit Cosmetics // First Impressions

Recently I was lucky enough to win Brogan's Big Benefit Giveaway! I was so happy when I found out I'd won, I'm not bragging by the way! I've been using these products non stop since they arrived so I thought I'd share with you my first impressions. I haven't had these products long so I couldn't do a full review but I love doing first impressions posts so I thought this would be a great opportunity to do just that!

The first product is one of Benefit's newest additions to their ever-growing range of products! The Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer has been all over the blogosphere at the moment. I actually got invited to the London event to launch this product but couldn't make it unfortunately. Primer's are typically a liquid form so this is a bit of a unique product! Before I talk about my first impressions of it I have to say the packaging is adorable, Benefit have some of the best product packaging around! This is one of the products I've actually used the least as I won two Primer's and have used one more than the other. I've used it enough to say that I really like the texture of the product. It feels soft and smooth on my skin but not greasy, the product glides on and creates a great base for foundation. Does it make foundation last 15 hours one me? So far I have to say no, it is more like 10-12 hours but to me that it is still pretty impressive!

I also won Benefit's top selling product, the POREfessional PRO Balm. I've heard so much about this product with a large majority of the reviews I've read saying positive things about it. It's one of those products that I really wanted to try but just couldn't bring myself to pay nearly £25 for, what if I didn't like it?! I can safely say though that so far I am really liking this hyped up product! Benefit claim it reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines and so far I agree, I find this creates such a smooth base for foundation. My foundation/BB Cream sits on my skin so much better if I've used this before hand. I'll definitely be reporting back to you on this product after I've tried it out a bit more!

Unfortunately I can't say much about this next product! This is another of Benefit's newest additions, not that new but still new to me! The Fake Up Concealer intrigued me from the day it came out, having dry skin is not fun and the supposedly hydrating/moisturising ring of product around the actual concealer looked like it could work wonders for my dry skin! Unfortunately this shade is too dark for my skin, this is the shade Medium, I am going to pass this onto a friend though so hopefully they will love it!

The next product is one that I've had a sample size of before but it is also a product that has seemed to have taken a back seat in the beauty world as now everyone raves about the They're Real! Mascara. The BADgal Lash Mascara definitely hasn't had that much attention recently but I was still excited to try it out, again! When I first tried about this mascara about a year and a half ago I wasn't that impressed. I found it smudged a lot and if you know me you know I hate mascaras that flake and smudge! However my experience the second time round has been more pleasant. Although the brush may look too big to work with I find it is pretty easy to apply product with it. It gives my lashes lots of length and volume and I find the volume is buildable with more coats. This mascara lasts on me nearly all day, towards the end of the day I find it doesn't flake and smudge a little but nothing too major. So far I am impressed!

The last product I won is a skincare product! I really haven't heard much, if anything, about Benefit's skincare line, I've never tried it myself and despite not knowing much about it I was excited to try out this product. Boo Boo Zap! is a fast acting acne treatment. It claims to reduce the appearance of acne related redness and swelling, I don't have acne but I have found this product to be a big help so far. Don't expect miracles from this product though as it does say it will help reduce, not get rid of. Recently my skin hasn't been great and I've had one or two nasty blemishes, I found that this little product helped reduce the redness around the blemishes and also helped to zap them away quicker, it wasn't an overnight thing though. It does take a few days to be able to see results but that is to be expected. It says this can be reapplied throughout the day which I like because obviously this speeds up the process, the key is little and often though. Don't apply loads in the morning and that be it for the day, apply a little bit every now and then. So far I've found this product does work for me but I haven't had it for long so I'll have to see if it continues to work for me this well!

My first impressions of these products all seem to be good so look out for full reviews on them all once I've tried them out for a bit longer!

What is your favourite Benefit product? Or what Benefit products are on your wishlist? (I quite fancy trying one of their gift sets!)

Thanks for reading,

  3. You've won so many goodies! Good pictures and very detailed reviews too. I'm probably the only one who isn't too impressed by the POREfessional PRO Balm. I feel that it really blocks my pores when it's like 30 degrees outside, otherwise it's not that bad for wearing during other seasons. Right now, I'm actually quite tempted by the Boo Boo Zap :P x

  9. Best tip for the Fake Up is to use is as a cream contour - I have all 3 shades and I use the darker ones for contouring and they work beautifully :) They're very blendable :)
