Ginvera Green Tea BB Cream // Review

BB Creams have been around for quite a while now in the UK but before that they were popular in Asia. Western countries then decided to jump on the bandwagon and try and create their own version, I think Garnier were the first?

I've tried various BB Creams and I'm trying a GOSH one out at the moment but none of the Western versions live up to the Eastern ones in the sense of a BB Cream actually being good for your skin!

I found this great little extract on the Janiro website (stocks Ginvera!) all about why they used Green Tea:

Green Tea, with its cocktail of potent antioxidant called catechins, exists as a powerful natural anti-oxidant (One cup of green tea contains approx 200 milligrams of catechins, which equals to almost 8 apples!)  About half of catechins found inside Green Tea are EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) which has been found to be twice as powerful as resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine. The Green Tea Extract therefore has 20X more anti-oxidant power as compared to Vitamin C, providing superior protection against harmful UV rays by donating electrons to the free radicals, hence rendering them less harmful and reducing UV-related photo-ageing which is mainly responsible for most signs of premature aging. Vitamin E, one of the main vitamins found in green tea, is also known for its ability to help skin retain moisture to slow down the signs of aging. It is also well known for its anti-bacterial and astringent qualities.

There are a lot of words in there that frankly I don't understand but boy does it sound promising!

As soon as I saw the colour of the Ginvera Green Tea BB Cream* I knew it would be too dark for me but I really wanted to try it out so I worked with it the best that I could! I only wore this around the house as it did make my skin a lot darker!

On the left I'm not wearing any makeup and you can see my red cheeks and many a freckle. The camera has been quite forgiving and toned down my redness and you can't see some of my blemishes either! On the right I'm wearing the BB Cream and boy do I look darker! But, I did find that I really liked this BB Cream! It sorted out most of my redness and covered up my blemishes fairly well. Its coverage is medium I'd say and I found it sat on my skin really well and blended easily. It has a nice finish, a little glowy, I usually opt for a matte finish so I'm surprised I liked it! I found by about mid afternoon it was started to wear off but this is without a powder. With a powder I found it lasted into the evening!

The only downfall was the shade selection which is non existent. There is only one 'universal' shade available. Honestly if they brought out a much lighter shade I'd buy this product!

Do you use a BB Cream?

Thanks for reading.

  6. I love this product! I had a sample last summer and it has been on my wishlist ever since! The colour was only slighty too dark for me but it gave my skin a nice olive colour.

  7. You're right, it does make you look a lot darker! But not in a bad way. I hate when products are so dark that people get orange skin and that awful 'tide mark'. With this you just look like you've been in the sun for a while ... I think I could do with some myself to hide my vampire pale skin haha.
