Which highstreet/drugstore brand does it best? #2

This is the second part of this series that the lovely Islay started on her blog. I'd definitely recommend you go and check out her blog, she has some serious nail design talent!

In the first part I talked about what brands are the best, in my eyes, for all face products from blusher to concealer, you can read it here. Today I'm going to talking about all of my favourites for nail, eye and lip products! If I have reviewed any of these products just click their name and a magical fairy will take you to the review!

This category was a no brainer for me! These two lip products are my favourites out of all the highstreet brands. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are £7.99 and are just fantastic! I have 5 shades out of the 6 available in the UK. They are moisturising, they wear well (they leave a stain of colour after the gloss goes) and just all round fab! Do I even need to say anything about the next lip product! The MUA Intense Kisses Glosses are a holy grail product for me! These are WAY better than the Rimmel Apocalips and I'd recommend buying 3 of these instead of one Rimmel Apocalips!

Eyeliner is something that I still haven't really got to grips with. I have hooded eyelids so doing a winged eyeliner look or even a simple line can be difficult, sometimes impossible. However I do love lining my waterline and tightline and these are the only eyeliners I use to do so! The Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Eyeliners in Nude and Black are staples in my collection and used together they make my eyes look bigger and bolder! At only £3.99 each you must be crazy if you haven't tried them!

You all know my holy grail mascara: the MUA Every Lash Mascara*. It is just brilliant! It gives me lots of length and recently I've found it can give me lots of volume as well if I use my wiggle technique! I just can't express my love for this mascara through enough words, I've nearly run out as well, when it runs out I will be running out to buy another! Now it would be a tight call between my MUA one and the Covergirl LashBlast 24hr Mascara. This gives my lashes a lot of volume and a bit of length, holds a curl well and is very black! However it smudges and flakes by about 4pm so it doesn't last all day, whereas my MUA one does. So, its clear who the winner is!

For cream eyeshadow it was a close call but I chose the Maybelline Colour Tattoos as my winner. They last ALL day and are the longest wearing product I own. They are also really blendable and make a fantastic base for any eyeshadows. I plan to get a few more of these, I'd love to have one to go with nearly any eyeshadow look so I can match the colours right, light in purple is top of my wishlist! The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk is my runner up. I loved this for ages and I still do but it creases a lot without a primer, the Maybelline ones crease a little without a primer but not as much as the NYX cream eyeshadow. I love that it is a white base as it brightens my eyes and I really want to get some shades of it.

For eyeshadow Sleek wins it, they aren't my favourite eyeshadow's ever but out of highstreet/drugstore brands they are. I have the Ultra Mattes Brights V1 and the Ultra Mattes Darks V2. Boy oh boy are these shadows pigmented! They blend well, they last nearly all day with a primer but stay bright throughout their whole lasting time. They don't crease and they are overall fab eyeshadow's! I love the Sleek packaging and I have plans to get more of these palettes and I am dying to try the blushes!

So they are the brands that win all these categories! I definitely will do some posts at sometime about my least favourite products and I might do a post on my high end products.

What brands win it for you?

Thanks for reading,
Shona x

    1. :) They really are very on par with high end products, I love the look of the new Revlon Lipsticks but they are £9?! That's a bit steep, Revlon may be a higher end drugstore brand but £9? xx
