How to make a blog header | Its Easy to Achieve

Recently I made myself a new blog header. I'd wanted to refresh my blog design for a while but I've always been so bad at making blog headers. The lovely Islay  told me that she used picmonkey to create her blog header. I was really surprised by this as I use the same picture editor to do any picture editing.

I then took to picmonkey and the internet to see what I could conjure up for myself! I've had so much positive feedback and I've even had people ask how I made it. I thought I'd show you how I made it and the process I went through.

My blog header is simple but sometimes that's all people want! Please do not copy my blog header exactly the same, make it unique, make it your own! Thanks.

1. First of all I wanted a plain white background for my blog so I just grabbed one off google!

2. The first editor I used was pixlr. Its really easy to use and I only used this for one step as you'll see below.

 3. On pixlr I selected the brush tool and then changed the colour to white. I then rubbed out the border that was around the white rectangle as I wanted my text to be free standing as I have a white background on my blog. You can colour in the whole rectangle though if you want a coloured header.

4. Then save the image to your computer, I finished using pixlr at this point but there are loads of things you can do on pixlr so play around with it.

5. At this point I started using PicMonkey which is the photo editor I use to edit my photos. Its great for adding text to things and brightening images. But thanks to Islay I found out its also brilliant for making blog headers!

6. Click the 'P' icon to add text. There are loads of different fonts to use, there is one for everyone! The ones that have little crowns on though aren't free, you have to buy the subscription to PicMonkey to get all the 'crown' features. I used the Amatic Small Caps font but there are plenty of fonts to pick from.

7. After you have added text you may want to add some other little things, I added roses as I really like them. You can add hearts, borders and backgrounds.

8. Here I have showed you  a few of the things you can do. I love the paint effect I've used (sorry it says weave effect in the picture, I changed it last minute). I'm sure you'll be able to find something to suit your personality. If not there is a option to add your own things to it. You can find royalty free pictures online and maybe you could add one of them into it, I'm sure you'll be able to find a beauty/makeup picture.

After you've finished decorating, save your new header.

9. Then just add your blog header to your blog. That's the simple step.

Now there are a few obstacles you might come across.

One thing that I've heard a lot of people have problem with is centring your blog header. I had trouble with this but I found a very helpful blog post for you all:
